A rose hip is the fruit of the rose, containing it's vibrant fleshy fruit and seeds. Through history, oils, teas, tinctures, and sweets have been made from this healing fruit.

I have collected these rose hips locally, sun dried them, and strung them on waxed linen in to garlands to honor the rose. The seed pods themselves have been desiccated, and have equivalent hardness of a peanut shell.

These garlands can be worn on the body, and would also be at home strung around the neck of a statuette, draped on an altar, or simply hung on the wall or in a window. Their bright color and textural quality lend for a variety of display options.

The larger garland (Garland A, right side) measures 23 inches long and is knotted, has 35 hips. The tassel measures approximately 3 inches long.

The smaller garland (Garland B, left side) measures 22 inches and is knotted. It has 41 hips. The tassel measures approximately 3 inches long.

Each garland has a handmade sterling hook clasp, and recycled lamb-leather tassel. Tassel has a hand-stamped sterling setting, and can be worn in front or back.

Care:
This necklace is made from dried fruit/seed pods. The care for this piece will be similar to natural pearls. Keep away from excess moisture. Long-term direct sun is fine.

As with all handmade and one-of-a-kind jewelry, utmost care should be taken to keep jewelry clean and dry. Never wear your pieces while bathing, swimming, or washing dishes to avoid having them submerged in water. Bones and stones are porous and susceptible to become weak when they get wet. Metals can tarnish and lose their patina more quickly if they get wet or washed with chemicals frequently. Also, please remove your pieces before any strenuous activities as they are fragile and parts could be knocked loose or fall out. Treat your jewelry like the unique piece of art that it is, and it will remain in good condition for ages.
